Week 7&8

Image
During week 7 and 8 of dev formal and informal we talked about concepts in measurement and and using data when we are in field. I thought that the excel activity was very informative. I think that is one of the best ways I was taught to get a bunch of data in one place that is easy to understand and be able to build off of. Im no the best at adding everything up and figuring out all the details of the stats so this is something ill defiantly use in my future career to help me. Another reason I love it is because you are able to use this information to see where your students are struggling the most and where there doing the best. Im also able to share this information with the students parents so they have an idea of how their child is doing.  one thing I really though was good to hear was.  You do not need to be a statistician to be a teacher, you do need to understand how standardized tests are constructed and interpreted. I enjoyed watching the videos to better unders...

Week 6

Image
For our 6th week of class we were doing our assessment project with our groups. This was a really fun assignment. We were able to see the best tools that are available to teachers to be able to assess students. Making our video was fun and we were able to actually do the assignments that were in our kit and try them on ourselves. This gave us a chance to see it from both the teacher side and the student side. We are also able to let the parents of the child we asses know how they have done and what  they could possible do with them. This also brought me back to my childhood when I had to do this a couple of times. When I was doing it then I obviously didn't understand the point of it but now I know why I needed to do it and why it was important form my teachers to know what i'm best at ad what I may need to work on. I would recommend ERDA which is the assessment plan we used to anyone. I think it is useful tool that can be used foe any student for any reason.

Week 5 Reflection

Image
This past week in class we talked about blooms taxonomy. we learned about what it is and how it can be used in our classroom. One thing I think is really cool is how all three of our classes seem to connect. we also were talking about this in our math methods class. I think that all six steps of blooms taxonomy are all very important and you can't do one without the other and I think that shows as it being used in all my classes. I noticed a lot more this semester than I have any other how it all connects and I really enjoy learning about it and connecting it to all my classes.

Week 4 Reflection

Image
For my fourth week in dev formal/ informal we talked about Bloom's taxonomy and learning objectives. This was one of my favorite weeks, I really enjoyed about all the different learning objectives and how they are all used or should be used. I personally learn best when I can do many examples and work through it with my classmates so doing the many examples on the board to learn about audience, behavior, condition, and degree and where all these go or the they were missing this was the best way of me to learn this. Bloom's taxonomy was also very beneficial to me. the nit gets all broken down and you can really see what all the parts Mena then you know when it best to use them or how to use them. everything we learn in this class I know I will use in my future carer and be able to better teach my students based off of what I learn in here.

Week 3 Reflection

Image
This past week I feel as though I learned a lot about documentation. I learned what the purpose of it is, and that is, to show how and what your students are learning. You can include photographs, samples of children's work at several different stages of completion. Students are able to share their thinking and revisit what they have already learned. specifically, documentation panels make students learning visible. I think that based off of what I learned this past week I will be able to know how to better assess how my students are doing in class and what they need to work on. I will be able to fulfill all my students needs needs by knowing who needs what and who may benefit from extra help on certain things. I think that knowing exactly where each student is super strong and where they may need more guidance is a huge part of knowing how to teach them properly and being a good teacher.

week 2 Reflection

Image
For my second week in dev formal/ informal I really enjoyed this week a lot. I love working with the people in my class and being able to use what we all learned and put it all together. I feel like I learn things from them as well. we talked a lot about rubrics, checklist, and rating scales. I think I only every really knew a lot about rubies and less about all the other stuff. so it was nice to learn about those as well. Another thing that I really like is that we get to discuss things with the people around us. I think it makes a difference when you get to hear everyone's opinions and there take on the different topics. I know for me at least I take in what everyone says and even write it in my notes so that I remember it. the picture I put below if from my notes. I write down everything I can and what I think will help me to better understand what something means and what I think I will use throughout my teacher career.

Week 1 Reflection

Sophia DeVito Blog Post 1:    My first week in Dev formal and informal assessments I feel like I have learned a lot. Not only do I know that I have learned new material, I enjoy going to the class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I love going and knowing I'm leaving with knowledge that will really help me when I become a teacher one day. I'm going to talk about just some of the things I learned from week one and I will use them later in life.  what one  of the main things we talked about was assessment. Assessment is super important, my definition of it would be that assessment is observing, recording in any way and documenting the work that children do throughout the day. It's about gathering all the information you can and being able to really understand how a child is doing in that class. Another way to assess a child is called sampling, you just take different samples of the students work as opposed to just using that whole worksheet.  one thing that we reflec...
